I admit it. I’m a big smoothie fan. Not the kind you get at the mall, but the kind you make at home where you control the ingredients that go into it. I will use these Super Shakes as a meal replacement or post workout snack, and almost always include some kind nut milk (almond, cashew, or pecan milk work well), some frozen fruit, and vanilla or chocolate protein powder. I will also toss some veggies, nuts, or raw rolled oats in depending on what I need for the day. If I need a serving of veggies… toss them in! Need some healthy fats or fiber? Toss in some nuts! Do you know its going to be a while before your next meal? Toss in some oats and blend away! There are about a thousand things you can put in a smoothie, but only recently did I discover one magic ingredient…Avocado!
If you haven’t tried avocado in a smoothie you are missing out! I know, sounds gross right? I thought the same thing… until I tried it! Adding 1/2 an avocado to almost any smoothie adds a ton of rich creaminess and a serving of healthy fats without changing the taste of your smoothie. I promise, as long as you don’t add 5 avocados to a regular sized smoothie, you won’t taste it!
Here are 3 of my favorite smoothie recipes that include avocado.

1 frozen banana (slice it before you freeze it!)
1/2 an avocado
1/4 cup pecans
8oz almond milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
Directions: throw the ingredients in your blender and buzz them up!
12oz vanilla almond milk
1 pear
1 handfull of spinach
1/2 inch of ginger, peeled and diced
2 cups frozen blueberries
1 avocado
1 tbsp raw honey
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
5 ice cubes
Directions: throw the ingredients in your blender and buzz them up!
8oz vanilla almond milk
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 avocado
1/2 tbsp milled flax seed
2 tbsp chopped walnuts
cinnamon and nutmeg to taste
ice cubes as desired
