The importance of the mental aspect of sport is often overlooked when it comes to training. It takes more than raw athletic ability to perform at the top of your game. That is why we don’t always see the best athletes at the top, but those who have the best combination of athletic and mental skills. With that in mind, we offer performance psychology workshops as a way to give our teams a mental edge over their competition. Students will be educated and actively involved in classes covering the mental aspects of sport performance such as goal setting, pre-game preparation (psyching up), mental toughness, confidence, relaxation techniques, and stress management. These sessions can be tailored to your requests, and are a great compliment to our strength and conditioning programs.
We currently offer these workshops:
Goal Setting: This workshop is available for both teams and individuals, and teaches you how to MASTER your goal setting. Your goals should be Measurable, Achievable, Specific, Time-bound, Encouraging, and Relavant. Learn why using this process helps to create goals that turn into reality instead of remaining dreams. This workshop actually includes a goal setting session for the team, so they will walk out with a full understanding of where the team is going to go. This is a great way for teams to start a season or to prepare for an upcoming tournament.
Mental Toughness: Learn how your mindset, motivation, confidence and focus combine to create a state of mind that will help you overcome adversity, face new challenges, and consistently improve. Sometimes it’s not always the best athletes at the top levels, but those who have found a way to succeed at every level.
Performance Preparation: Entering your performance in the right frame of mind can often be the determining factor between a win and a loss. In this workshop we teach you how to find the sweet spot between psyched up and psyched out so you can be more consistent and more confident in your games or performances. By establishing an individualized pre-game routine, we help you to be more consistent and attain higher levels of performance.
Team Dynamics: Every coach’s dream is to have a team that operates as a cohesive unit. Teams that play well together have a better chance at success than a collection of individuals who may have more talent. In this workshop we focus on the principles of successful teamwork, and shed light on what can be poisonous to a team. We will teach your team how to accomplish more by working together, and how to maximize unity and how to have the best possible team experience.
Relaxation and Stress Management: As youth athletes proceed to higher levels of athletics, the physical and mental demands get higher as well. The ability to cope with stress in sports and in school will ultimately lead to more success, improved habits, and better health. Especially in today’s high pressure youth athletic scene, the ability to relax and manage stress may be the best way to improve performance, prevent burnout, and maintain a healthy life in and out of athletics.
Nutrition: The way you feed your body has a great effect on how you can perform. If you are under-nourished and over fed, your health and performance will certainly suffer. In this class, we teach you the top 10 nutrition tips to maintain high performance and, more importantly, a healthy life.
